Eventful summer

So, I just got back home to Fredericksburg after spending 12 days in Blacksburg. I had been selected to be a Transfer Orientation Guide back in March and the official orientation was June 18-21. I had an absolute BLAST. I seriously kept thinking to myself during the whole process how lucky I was to be apart of a program such as New Student Programs. I'm already super lucky to be a transfer student at Virginia Tech but to be able to welcome all the new students? How could I even say that's a job...it was too much fun to even be put near the "job/work" category. I loved being able to see the new crop of students that will be joining us in the Fall first hand. I also had made so many new friendships that I know will stick with me through my time at Virginia Tech. We all came in as strangers and there were so many tears the last day..."Lock it up" was the most used phrase by the end of the night. I made so many memories and I don't have to stop because while I was being a TOG (transfer orientation guide), I was asked to fill in a spot for Hokie Camp, which is geared more towards welcoming freshman before school but I heard some of my transfers signed up, so I am super excited! I originally wanted to apply to be a counselor for Hokie Camp but I was too intimidated because all of these other awesome people were applying so I just let that pass, so I guess it truly was meant to be! Now that I'm back at home, my mom and I are just packing away. We're moving to Fortworth, TX sometime next fall because of my Dad's job but our house in Fredericksburg sold and we have to be all packed and moved out by August 10th. It's quite a bittersweet situation. I'm really sad to be leaving Fredericksburg because it has been my home for 16 years but I'm also ready for a new chapter to start. I have a feeling that although Virginia will always be my home, Texas has a lot of opportunities for me. I can't wait to see what life has for me next.
