Let's play catch up

Week 4 of classes, I can't even believe it's already been 4 weeks. I was talking to one of my friends today and we were saying how we felt like we've been here for so long but also so little at the same time. Life is just happening and it's not waiting for anyone to catch up.

In my last post I mentioned I was going to a Ben Rector concert and I have to say it was amazing! He totally exceeded my expectations. Also, work at Gobble Cakes has been great (a little too great). With every shift we get to have 2 cupcakes for free, which is extremely dangerous. I went home this past weekend and took home my family and friends some cupcakes. I have this weird obsession for cupcakes but I'm hoping to get a little sick of them after working there so I won't feel the need to eat them all the time. As mentioned before I went home this weekend, I ran (really walked) in The Color Run in Richmond with some of my friends from XDA. My two dear friends from home came with me to take pictures of the fun 5k! It was seriously so much fun, the whole concept of the race is so creative. By the end of the race I was completely covered in color. I went out to breakfast with my friends after the race to Cracker Barrel and I have to say if you go out in public covered in colored powder, you're definitely going to make some friends. After the race I went back to Fredericksburg and spent some time with my family for my Grandpa's 83rd birthday, we went out to dinner and had a nice celebration for him. My cousin is getting married in 2 1/2 weeks so we were talking Wedding details all night (my favorite). I can't wait for the wedding, it's going to be in the Outer Banks and literally on the beach. It's going to be such a wonderful weekend. My Dad is driving up from Texas and my sister will be there also so we're all going to be together, which is quite rare with everyone's hectic schedules.

I'm apart of a service sorority called Chi Delta Alpha and that has been keeping me super busy! All of the service projects I have done so far this year have been so great. I picked up a weekly commitment for Special O' Volleyball and last week was our first week! It was so great getting to spend time with some of the Special O' athletes; they sure could brighten any day of mine. I also have a weekly commitment called Lunch Buddies, where my friend Amanda and I go to Falling Branch and eat lunch with two little munchkins every Monday. Today while we were waiting in the cafeteria one of our girls saw us from the hallway and started frantically waving, I cannot express the joy my heart was experiencing. While we were eating one of the girls was telling us about how she was counting down the days to Monday all weekend long (and secretly I was also). She said, "I wish the week went like this: Monday...sleep, Monday...sleep, Monday...sleep, and then Thursday...sleep, and then back to Monday!" It was honestly the cutest thing I have ever heard. The fact that she looks forward to seeing us makes me feel like I'm actually making a difference in this young girl's life, which is so rewarding.

I was recently accepted into the Big Brothers Big Sisters program! I got my little brother last week. His name is Alex and he's in the first grade. I get to meet him this Wednesday and I am so so so excited.

This year has become so busy so fast but I am so excited to get more in depth with my classes and my service projects. I honestly can't believe how blessed I have been with all of the wonderful opportunities that have come my way. Can't wait to update on everything soon :)

Much love!
