Annie's Lodge: 8:30am
We made it to Lilongwe on May 23rd (yesterday around 4:00pm). We will be staying here for two nights! Once we got off the plane we went through customs, packed up the van, and drove over to the Lodge. This country is not like anything I have ever seen before. I am amazed at what I see, smell, and hear because it is all so different. The people here in Malawi are so laid back with everything. America is all rush and it couldn't be any more opposite here. While we were at the airport we saw a truck full of school children and my heart leaped a thousand times. I loved getting to share those few special smiles and waves with them. The land here is so beautiful, Ash and Audra were right: It's just like The Lion King, I'm on the lookout for Simba. While we were driving to Annie's Lodge we saw women carrying babies wrapped in cloth while also carrying these huge bowls on their head, talk about women power. There were also kids selling corn, oranges, and rats on a stick (yes, like actual rats roasted on a stick).
I am so out of my comfort zone and we stick out like sore thumbs but I am so happy to be here. Both groups that traveled here are so great and I am so excited to see what life has in store for us. I only have a limited time on the internet so I will be writing out everything later on! Thank you for all of the wonderful individuals who helped make this happen and all of the prayers I have received. I am so blessed to have each and everyone of you all in my life.
Until then,
XOXO
